United Arab Republic President Gamal Abdel Nasser is no longer recognized by the world or by Arab states as the top leader of Arab nationalism, while Israel is achieving greater status in the eyes of the world, Joseph Tekoah, deputy permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations, declared here today. Mr. Tekoah addressed the women’s division of the American Jewish Congress, which held a luncheon to raise funds for the United Jewish Appeal.

Arieh Ben Eliezer, Deputy Speaker of the Israel Parliament and leader of the Herut Party in Israel, told a press conference here today that “Nasser is still the chief Communist agent in the Middle East; his fight with Kassem of Iraq is merely a design to secure for himself the role of chief dispenser of Soviet favors in the Arab world.”
