The Superior Council of Frenchmen from Abroad, a governmental advisory body, recommended at a meeting here today that the French Government increase financial help to French citizens repatriated from Egypt, among whom are Jews exiled by Egypt after the Israeli-Franco-British Sinai and Suez campaigns of 1956.
The Council also took note of the special problem of Jews who are not being permitted by the United Arab Republic to return to Egypt, although a pledge to permit all exiles to return was made by the UAR in its accord with France, settling the disputes arising from the Suez action. That accord was signed at Zurich last year. However, it is not believed that the French Government will take any action on this issue until France and the UAR have resumed diplomatic relations.
