The United States Public Health Service has approved a grant of nearly $500,000 for the construction of a new research center at the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital here, it was reported today. The grant is one of the largest ever approved by the Health Service for construction of hospital research facilities.
In announcing the grant for construction of a new Research Center, Dr. Leo Rigler, executor director, said that this year’s expansion program for the Cedars Medical Center will shortly get underway with an additional $1,000,000 as its immediate goal. Other facilities slated for construction include the Institute for Nuclear Medicine, expansion of the Cardio-Respiratory Center, a new psychiatric unit, additional pediatric and other specialized services for the benefit of clinic patients.
