East Berlin and East German Jews who have lost their families during the Nazi holocaust, are going to try to join the Israel court as “amicus curiae” or as additional plaintiffs, when Adolf Eichmann, Nazi “specialist” in the extermination of Jews, goes on trial in Israel, it was confirmed here today.
Among the Jews on the Communist side who are preparing to enter the Eichmann case is Rabbi Martin Riesenburger, spiritual leader of the East Berlin synagogue. Rabbi Riesenburger stated today that he and a number of other Jews in East Germany have instructed a Communist attorney, Dr. Kaul, to take steps to intervene on their behalf in the Israeli court that will try Eichmann. There are about 1,000 Jews living in East Berlin.
