Dawrence Gubow of Detroit, Michigan Corporation and Securities Commissioner, has been nominated by President Kennedy for the office of U.S.Attorney for eastern Michigan. His appointment was considered certain to receive Senate confirmation.

Mr. Gubow, who was captured by the Germans during World War II, is a national leader of the Jewish War Veterans and active in the Jewish Community Council of Detroit and other Detroit Jewish organizations.

He became nationally known during 1960 when he opened an investigation of a discriminatory “point system” used to screen prospective buyers of homes in Grosse Pointe, a luxury suburban section. Mr. Gubow forced an end to the system by invoking a ruling which prohibits real estate brokers or salesmen from such discrimination in real estate transactions.
