World Ort Union Sets $7,000,000 Budget for Work in 20 Areas

A $7,000,000 program for providing vocational training to underprivileged communities in 20 countries, was announced today by the World ORT Union, at the closing session of a meeting of the organization’s executive committee here. The meeting, which was attended by Jewish leaders from 27 countries, was held under the chairmanship of Daniel Mayer.

A decision was also announced to establish an Ort vocational training school for boys in India, which will provide that community with badly needed skills.

Max Braude, director general of the World Ort Union, presented a report on the Ort vocational network in the various countries and the organization’s plans for the coming year. WOU director Vladimir Halprin discussed organizational and fund-raising activities. The two-day meeting closed with an assembly of the Women’s International Ort.
