Sponsors of various bills aimed at nullifying the Supreme Court decision banning religious prayers in public schools will testify tomorrow before the Senate Judiciary Committee, it was made known today.
Between 15 and 20 senators, sponsors of different measures, are scheduled to have priority in testifying. They will appear before the full committee. Chairman James O. Eastland, Mississippi Democrat, is expected to preside.
Mayor Milton A. Gibbons, of Tuckahoe, N. Y., a militant foe of the Supreme Court ban, arrived today in Washington with petitions bearing 2,000 signatures, asking for a Constitutional amendment to permit such prayers in public schools. The Tunkahoe Mayor said he expected to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow. He revealed that the petitions also included a call for the impeachment of the Justices who joined in banning the prayer.
