Administrative import controls were lifted by the Government here today on a list of 15 industrial products imported by a wide variety of enterprises. The controls were abolished as part of the new economic policy in Israel, and some of the controls will be replaced by customs tariffs.
Today’s list of 15 products is the third published by the Government, affecting a total of 32 products. On the new list are enameled household utensils, work tools, tools for the diamond industry, gas accessories, cast iron, leather, medical cotton and soups. The controls affected 85 Israeli plants, employing about 1,500 workers with an annual output valued at 50,000,000 pounds (nearly $17,000,000).
