Delegates to the 18th annual convention of B’nai B’rith Girls were asked here today to intensify efforts in organizing Jewish youth communities of continental Europe.
“With exception of a few B’nai B’rith youth organization units currently in existence, there is virtually no directed, Jewish-oriented program of activities for continental Europe’s Jewish youth by which they can continue to identify with spiritual ties and binds of Jewry,” Janet Ross, Bournemouth, England, told 200 delegates participating in a seven-day conference. Miss Ross, a 17-year-old member of the organization, is attending the parley as representative of B’nai B’rith youth of Great Britain.
“BBYO’s broad-scaled programs and diverse activities are ideally suited to Europe’s Jewish youth community needs,” she said. She added that she is particularly concerned with Jewish youth of Nazi-ravaged countries “where Jewish life has been slow in recovering.” A similar appeal was made to the 39th annual convention of Aleph Zadik Aleph, B’nai B’rith Youth organization’s teen-age boy’s division, by 17-year-old MaxwelGold of Hull, England.
