For the first time in history, the Prime Minister of Belgium has sent New Year greetings to the Jewish community of this country. In his message, Premier Theo Lefever, wishing “a happy and prosperous New Year to my Jewish compatriots,” emphasized that he appreciated the Belgian-Jewish contributions to the country’s prosperity and to Belgium’s economic and cultural fields.
