Javits Hits Administration on Middle East, Alleges ‘hands Off’ Policy

The Kennedy Administration’s has been following a “hands off” policy regarding the Middle East, thus “strengthening the Soviet Union’s position” In the area, Senator Jacob K. Javits charged here this weekend.

Senator Javits, a New York Republican currently running, for re-election, also criticized the Washington Administration’s policy of increased aid to Egypt “without any guarantees or conditions. ” Such aid, he declared, places Egyptian President Gamal Abel Nasser “in a position to threaten the peace and security of all Middle Eastern countries.
