The 20th anniversary of the death of Mordechai Anilewicz, commander of the Warsaw Ghetto revolt in 1943, who committed suicide with members of his staff rather than fall into the hands of the Nazis, was commemorated in Warsaw yesterday with a pilgrimage by Polish Jews and non-Jews to the site of the revolt headquarters at number 18 Mila Street in the Polish capital. Among the wreaths laid at the commemorative stone at the site was one from the Embassy of Israel in Warsaw.
