The first Doctorate of Hebrew Letters granted by Sao Paulo University was awarded to the cultural attache of the Israel Consulate here, Zvi Caspi, for his thesis on “The Language of the Dead Sea Scrolls as Compared with the Language of the Bible.”

Brazil’s Chief Rabbi, Dr. Fritz Pinkuss, Professor of Hebrew at the university, presided over the examination board which heard Mr. Caspi defend his thesis.
