Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban of Israel said in a televised press interview here today the situation in the Middle East would be improved if responsible Arab opinion faced the fact that official Arab doctrine about Israel’s rights of existence was without any support in the world community outside of the Arab area.

The broadcast, on which Mr. Eban faced a panel of leading Venezuelan editors, concluded his weeklong visit to this country during which he met with President Raul Leoni and was guest of the Venezuelan Parliament.

Mr. Eban said in a broadcast that in his travels in recent months throughout North and South America he had not encountered any serious opinion anywhere against Israel’s Jordan River irrigation project or in support of the Arab summit conference doctrine about “liberating Palestine.”

Mr. Eban left today for Bogota, Colombia for a State visit during which he will confer with Government leaders, address both houses of Parliament and receive an honorary doctorate at the University of Bogota.
