A statement opposing a plan for “released time” in the public a schools of neighboring Stratford Borough was adopted here by the Camden Jewish Community Relations Council, which also expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Stratford Board of Education plans to poll parents on this issue.
Morton C; Jacobs, chairman of the JCRC, said in the statement that figures have shown that, in some school districts where “released time” is permitted, so that pupils may attend religious instruction in church schools, only 25 percent of the children use the “released” hour for such religious school attendance. Those children who remain in school, he said, receive no instruction during that hour.
