Trial of 15 Nazis Opens in Germany; Charged with Killing 17,000 Jews

The trial of 15 former SS men charged with the war time mass murder of more than 17,000 Jews at Nev-Sandz, Poland, opened here today.

The main defendant is a former high ranking SS officer, Heinrich Hamall, who alone is charged with having committed 88 murders. The trial, expected to last about six months, will hear testimony from witnesses now living in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel.
