Vice-President Hubert Humphrey was presented last night with the Harry S. Truman Commendation Award of the Israel Bond Organization. The first such award was given last year to Gen. Lucius D. Clay for his work in liberating Europe in the Second World War. Mr. Truman presented the award.

In accepting the award, Mr. Humphrey said that Israel was “a heartwarming example of what free people working freely together can accomplish for them selves.” Hailing Israel’s “lively” democracy, Mr. Humphrey said that “while some of the newer nations are drifting toward one-party regime, many parties flourish in Israel.”
