A Jewish educator asserted here yesterday that social problems from which Jews have historically been free, were increasing as Jewish youth in this country were becoming increasingly assimilated to American life.
Max Frankel, president of the National Association of Temple Educators, told a conference of Jewish educators that “we often hear there is less delinquency, crime, divorce and alcoholism among Jews than among non-Jews.” However, he added, such statistics were changing as Jews became “more and more” like the majority. American Jews, he said, were experiencing “a moral decay, caused by the decline of the importance of the home and the changing pattern of family life.”
