The Vienna public prosecutor’s office disclosed today that preparations were underway for a trial of the Auschwitz death camp personnel which will be the biggest war crimes trial in Austrian history. Preliminary investigations have been made against former SS guards at the camp.
The defendants will include about 40 doctors, soldiers, officers and SS men, several of whom will be charged with operating the gas chambers in which millions were killed.
