President Shazar to Be Honored in New York by Mayor and at U.N.

Preparations were completed here today for the arrival this week to the United States of Israel President Zalrnan Shazar who will remain in thie country for six days prior to his return to Israel. Mr. Shazar will arrive in New York on Thursday from Brazil where he is now on a state visit. President Shazar also visited Uruguay and Chile as a guest of the governments there.

During his stay in New York, the Israeli President will be given luncheons by United Nations Secretary General U Thant and Mayor John V. Lindsay and will meet with leaders of various Jewish groups including the United Jewish Appeal, Synagogue Council of America, the New York Board of Rabbis, the American Zionist Council, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and the American Jewish Committee.

He will attend Sabbath services on Saturday, July 30 at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue and on Saturday night he will make the trip to Brooklyn to call on the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

On August 2, President Shazar will fly to Washington where he will meet President Johnson at the White Rouse and will then attend a luncheon in his honor given by the Organization of American States. That evening, Mr. Shazar will be President Johnson’s guest at a dinner tendered in the White House in his honor.

Before leaving Washington for New York to fly home by El Al, President Shazar will lay a wreath on the grave of the late President Kennedy at Arlington National Cemetery. He will leave New York for Israel on August 3.
