Gen. Moshe Dayan, former Israeli chief of staff, met today with United States Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, at the invitation of Mr. McNamara, apparently to discuss the general’s impressions of Vietnam. Gen. Dayan recently visited Vietnam to observe American military operations and counter-guerrilla tactics.
The Israeli leader also met today with Gen. Harold K. Johnson, U.S. Army chief of staff, and Secretary of the Army Stanley R. Resor. The topics discussed were not immediately revealed but it is believed that Vietnam was the main subject.
Gen. Dayan also met later with Nicholas Katzenbach, Under-Secretary of State, to whom he will give his impressions of the present security situation in the Near East, as well as his thinking on Vietnam.
