Eighty American college students from the State University of New York and Temple University, Philadelphia, will participate in seven week summer session programs at the Hebrew University under the auspices of the Department of Education and Culture of the Jewish Agency, it was announced here today by Mrs. Rose L. Halprin, chairman of the Jewish Agency-American Section and its education department.
It will be the second year of such a project for Temple University and the first year for the State University of New York. In announcing this year’s program for college students, Mrs. Halprin said: “We are currently in negotiation with several other colleges and universities, and it is likely that the number of American college students attending these summer university programs in Israel will be substantially increased in 1968.”
Students from both American colleges satisfactorily completing these summer courses will receive six semester credits from their respective schools. The Temple University project is under the supervision of Dr. Esra Shereshevsky, chairman of the Department of Hebrew, Temple University. The State University of New York program is directed by Dr. Yonah Alexander, associate professor of Political Science, State University of New York, Oneonta.
