The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations heard an off-the-record report today on the latest developments in the Middle East from Gideon Rafael, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations.

Mr. Rafael, who spoke for over an hour, answered questions from leaders of the 21 national Jewish agencies which make up the President’s Conference. He was accompanied by Michael Arnon Israel’s Consul-General in New York. Dore Schary, chairman of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, presided at the meeting in the absence of Dr. Joachim Prinz, chairman of the President’s Conference, who is currently abroad.
