Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin of Israel will meet with President Lyndon B. Johnson for the first time in the next few days, it was learned today from official sources. The Ambassador’s visit to the White House will be in the nature of a diplomatic courtesy call designated by protocol. It is expected, however, that matters of current interest may be discussed because of the recent important talks involving the President and Prime Minister Levi Eshkol of Israel.

Gen. Rabin met today with Lucius D. Battle, Assistant Secretary of State of Near Eastern Affairs, in keeping with a series of meetings designed to make personal contact with key officials. The new envoy has been invited to address the National Press Club next week.
