The St. Louis Jewish Federation has created a special committee to determine what actions the St. Louis Jewish community can undertake to improve the conditions of the poor in the city, according to Melvin Dubinsky, Federation president. The committee, which is headed by John D. Levy, was instructed to report its findings and recommendations to the board by May 23.
The tasks of the committee are to review the problems of the inner city, with particular reference to St. Louis, to study the roles of the Jewish organizations and of the total St. Louis Jewish community in relation to inner city problems and to determine what actions could be undertaken, on both a short-range and long-range basis, to concentrate the resources of the Jewish community for a direct attack on the problem.
