Funeral services were held here Sunday for Joseph Lichtenbaum, poet, author and translator, who died here Saturday at the age of 73. A native of Poland, Mr. Lichtenbaum settled here in 1920. He was awarded the Brenner Prize in 1960 for a book of poems and received the Tchernikhovsky Prize in 1953 for his translation into Hebrew of the Polish classic, Pan Tadeusz, by A. Mickiewicz. It was the censorship of Pan Tadeusz by Polish authorities that precipitated the student demonstrations in Warsaw that later developed into an official anti-Semitic campaign.
