One Israeli soldier was injured today when an Army jeep hit a mine in the southern Golan Heights. More explosives and another mine were discovered nearby and dismantled. Jordanians twice opened fire on Israeli forces. In each cases fire was returned and exchanges lasted a half hour. There were no Israeli casualties.

The Golan Heights, occupied in the June, 1967 war, will be converted into a summer resort area the Israeli Parks Authority announced. The plateau enjoys relatively cool weather during the summer months. It is strewn with wrecked armaments and pocketed with bunkers from which Syrians once fired regularly on Israeli settlements in the valley below.
