There is general annoyance among supporters of the liberal regime In Czechoslovakia over anti-Israel phrases contained in the communique issued at the close of the conference of East European Communist Party leaders at Bratislava on Saturday, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today. But reliable Government sources told the JTA unofficially that the denunciation of “Israeli aggression” was inserted only because Czechoslovakia is dependent on the Soviet Union in foreign policy matters and could not act as freely as it would have liked.
Meanwhile, a group of prominent Czech writers met here to discuss the new political situation. Among them were Ladislav Mnaacko and Eduard Goldstuecker, a Jew who is chairman of the Czech writers union. It was learned that many in this group believe that Czechoslovakia should not have agreed to the anti-Israeli phraseology. Mr. Mnacko, a non-Jew, went Into self-exile in Israel when Czechoslovakia broke diplomatic relations with that country following the Six-Day War.
