Richard M. Nixon the Republican Presidential candidate, has announced the appointment of Max M. Fisher of Detroit as his special adviser on urban and community affairs. Mr. Fisher, who is president of the United Jewish Appeal, chairman of the United Israel Appeal and vice-president of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, also heads an organization, New Detroit, Inc., which seeks to mobilize total community manpower and economic resources for evolving local solutions to urban problems.
In making the announcement, Mr. Nixon said Mr. Fisher “brings to our campaign the admiration and respect of Americans of all faiths and races who know him for his outstanding achievements in advancing human welfare at home and abroad, and in improving the quality of American life.”
