The Foreign Ministry disclosed today that Israel would reply to a Swiss note implicating Israel’s present military attache in Bern and his predecessor in the theft of jet engine plans by a Swiss national who allegedly sold them to Israel. The contents of the reply were not revealed.
Switzerland yesterday put the stamp of persona non grata on Col. Zvi Allon, the present attache, and Brig. Gen. Nehemia Kein who previously held the post at the Israeli Embassy in Bern. According to the Swiss Government both were involved with Alfred Frauenknecht, an employee of the Sulzer plant in Winterthur which manufactures Mirage III-S jet engines under a license from the French firm of Marcel Dassault. Frauenknecht was arrested Sept. 26 and accused of selling blueprints, models and tooling instructions for the engines to Israel for $200,000. Col. Allon is attached to the Israel Embassy staff in Rome but was also accredited to Switzerland. Gen. Kein has returned to Israel.
