Negotiations for Israel Agreement with Common Market Slated for Nov. 12

Negotiations for a preferential trade agreement between Israel and the European Common Market will open in Brussels on Nov. 12, it was announced here yesterday. The announcement was made by the ministerial committee on the Common Market which met under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Abba Eban. It said that the date was proposed by the permanent committee of the European Economic Community after the ECC’s Council of Ministers authorized it to proceed with negotiations. The signing of a preferential trade agreement is considered to be the first step toward Israel’s full association with the Common Market.
