The Republican Party In Chicago has repudiated the candidacy of J. Emil Virdine and condemned his “blatant campaign against Jews.” Mr. Virdine, running for Congress in the southwest side’s Fifth District, is an independent candidate seeking Republican nomination for Congress. Edmund J. Kucharski, chairman of the Republican central Committee of Cook County, said that Mr. Virdine’s “blatant campaign against Jews is reminiscent of the worst type of Nazi propaganda.” A neighborhood newspaper in the district, the Southwest News-Herald, condemned Virdine’s campaign tactics in an editorial.
