Dore Schary Appointed New York Cultural Commissioner by Mayor Lindsay

Mayor John V. Lindsay and Parks, Recreational and Cultural Affairs Administrator August Heckscher today announced the appointment of Dore Schary as Commissioner of Cultural Affairs. Mr. Schary, a well-known Broadway and movie writer, producer and director, is honorary chairman of the Anti Defamation League of B’nai B’rith and has long been active in numerous civic and cultural organizations. He will assume his new position on May 1.
