More than 500 young people marched yesterday in a parade celebrating Lag b’Omer and in support of Israel’s independence. Ray Goodman, director of the Salute to Israel Independence parade in New York, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that in addition to the youths, some 10,000 persons participated in the outdoor celebration at the Bernard Horwich Center. Adlai Stevenson III, candidate for State Treasurer in Illinois, told the gathering he supported Israel’s request for additional plane and urged the Nixon administration to “support the young democracy in the Middle East.” Shauel Ramati, consul general of Israel in Chicago, was a guest speaker.
