For the first time since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, a governor of Georgia has attended a reception in the home of an Israeli Foreign Ministry official, it was reported here today. According to informed sources, Governor Jimmy Carter attended a reception in the home of Israeli Consul General Moshe Gllboa in honor of Israel’s Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir. The governor, who attended the reception together with several leading members of the State Legislature, was presented by Sapir with a new edition of the Bible printed in Israel. Accepting the gift, Carter stated: “The Bible, more than anything else, symbolizes the great admiration in time between the people of Georgia in particular and the United States in general for the State of Israel.” Sapir expressed his gratitude to the governor for his support and the support of the Georgian representatives in Washington for Israel.
