The Hebrew University conferred an honorary fellowship on Lady Eva, Marchioness of Reading, last night in recognition of her “distinguished services to the cause of Israel and humanity.” At a dinner in her honor, University president Avraham Harman paid tribute to the guest and her family which played a major role in the British Zionist movement. He referred to Lady Eva as “an example of total commitment to the liberation of the Jewish people.” In response, the Marchioness said she considered it “the greatest possible privilege to have been born into the generation of Jews that took up the challenge of the times with such outstanding success.”
