The complete archives of the late S.Y. Agnon, 1967 Nobel Literature Prize winner, are to be transferred to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the terms of an agreement signed last week between the University and the Agnon family. The agreement also provided for the establishment of an Agnon Memorial at the University. Avraham Harman, University president, said that an academic council which will guide the Agnon Memorial has been in existence at the University for tome time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Ephraim Urbach said that the council had already sorted through 800 Agnon manuscripts, of which 100 have never been published. Seven thousand letters sent to Agnon from individuals and institutions, and 400 of Agnon’s letters to other people have also been collected or photographed.
