The Zim Lines has announced that it will open a new containership line early next year from Israel to the United States and Canada via the Far East and Japan. It will be the longest ocean route served by Israel and will employ six containerships which Israel has ordered in West Germany at a cost of over $100 million. Under terms of the contract, the first two vessels will sail under the German flag for two years after which they will be re-registered in Israel. The flag agreement reduces the cost of the ships by $10 million.

A Supplement will Appear When Warranted
