“Israel Week” organized by Jewish and Israeli youth organizations, will be observed here from Dec. 6-13, it was announced today, for the purpose of deepening the knowledge of young Frenchmen of Israeli affairs. Events will include an art exhibition, film shows, round-table discussions and a series of conferences by such French, Jewish and Israeli personalities as Prof. Yankelevitch of the Sorbonne, Nobel Iaureate Claude Sarraute, Rene Cassin, Prof. Saul Friedlander, poet Haim Guri, Manes Sperber. Andre Schwartz-Bart, Albert Memmi and others. The organizers noted that a recent French public opinion poll showed that youth sympathized with much of Israel’s ideals but had no knowledge of actual life in Israel. “Israel Week” was planned to remedy that situation, they said. It will be held on the Left Bank, Paris student-populated Latin quarter.
