Two recent immigrants from Soviet Georgia were found guilty of manslaughter by a Nazareth district court today. Three others were convicted of assault in the death of Subhi Nazir, 46, a Nazareth Arab who was fatally beaten by a group of Georgian Jews last Feb. They will be sentenced on Sunday. Three others arrested in the case were acquitted. All had originally been charged with murder.

The five convicted were also cited for assaulting Regina Polyakovskaya, 48, another recent immigrant from Georgia who was with Nazir at the time. The woman, the wife of a merchant seaman, was taking a driving lesson from Nazir when she was assaulted by the accused who apparently suspected a romantic liaison between them. When Nazir tried to come to her aid he was beaten by the immigrants and died of his injuries.
