Following the issuance of a call for aliya to Israel by the World Zionist Organization in Jerusalem, and its affirmation by Premier Golda Meir, the American Zionist Federation has designated Feb. 10-March 10 as Aliya Month in the United States, it was announced today by Rabbi Israel Miller, AZF president. The call for aliya, issued by the AZF was endorsed by Mrs. Meir in a letter stating: “Aliya is our lifeblood. Confident in our own stand, convinced of our inherent ability to overcome all difficulties, believing in the Jewish people, I call upon you: Come to Israel and build the land.”

Rabbi Miller said that the AZF’s 13 national membership organizations, and its affiliated Zionist Federations will conduct an active campaign for aliya by Americans in cooperation with the WZO-American Section, the 17 offices of the Israel Aliya Center throughout the U.S. and the Association of Americans and Canadians for Aliya.

The official launching of the campaign will be in New York on Feb. 10 at the Delmonico Hotel. The call for aliya of the WZO issued by Leon Dulzin, acting chairman of the WZO Executive, stressed the “imperative” need for aliya following the Yom Kippur War.

Rabbi Miller said “Programs will be held in synagogues, community centers, on college campuses and wherever Jews congregate. We are asking local rabbinical organizations to proclaim an Aliya Shabbat at which they will dedicate their sermons to the call for aliya. Already all of the American Zionist organizations, as well as national rabbinical groups and fraternal orders, have endorsed the idea of Aliya Month and pledged their cooperation in the sponsorship of educational meetings to be followed by an ongoing program of aliya stimulation.”
