Fifth Avenue was a pedestrian mall Sunday, and with many strollers on the famed street the Lubavitcher Youth Movement set up two trucks to demonstrate the lighting of the Chanukah menorah and passed out candles to Jewish men and boys. The purpose, according to a spokesman, was to inform Jews that even if they didn’t light candles during the first seven nights of Chanukah they could still do it Sunday night, the eighth and last day of the holiday. “They could jump on the bandwagon and illuminate the world by illuminating the Chanukah menorah,” he said.
