— The office of the District Attorney in Innsbruck has reopened the investigation into the Nazi past of Mayor Franz Hausberger of Mayrhofen, the famous skiing resort in the Tyrol. Hausberger was a member of the infamous First SS Infantry Brigade. The resumption of the investigation was triggered by the Austrian Resistance Movement which mailed a leaflet to all households in the region around Mayrhofen headlined: “From the Murder Brigade to the Mayor’s Office.” The leaflet stated: “Our region is being discredited by the past of Franz Hausberger.”
