Maurice Rosenfeld Dead at 90

Funeral services were held here today for Maurice Rosenfeld, a businessman, philanthropist and civic leader who died Thursday at the age of 90. Rosenfeld, who was born on the Lower East Side and was orphaned in his teens, founded the Equitable Bag Co. 60 years ago and served as its president and board chairman until 1974.

He was active on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of Jewish Philanthropies which elected him an honorary life trustee in 1959. He was also a former president of the Brooklyn Hebrew Orphan Asylum, now the Jewish Child Care Association. He served for many years as president of New York City’s Youth Counsel Bureau and was a trustee of the National Council on Crime and Delinquency and the National Society for the prevention of Juvenile Delinquency.
