Former Knesset member Shmuel Flatto-Sharon today began his 90-day prison sentence, which he will serve as an “external prisoner,” working at a police installation during the day and returning to his Savyon home at night. Flatto-Sharon was convicted last summer of bribery to win votes in the elections seven years ago. He won a Knesset seat and thus stalled an extradition request from France for his return there to stand charges of financial mismanagement. He was given a nine-month prison sentence but this was reduced by the Supreme Court on appeal to 90 days.
