Trans World Airlines, the American carrier that has cut back much of its international service for economic reasons, will resume flights to Israel on June 1, the airline announced Wednesday.

The flights were suspended when the Persian Gulf War began in January, and the financially strapped airlines never denied rumors that they would not be resumed.

TWA flies from New York to Tel Aviv via Paris.
