Performance rights will not be extended to amateur theatrical companies which had been planning to perform “The Diary of Anne Frank” during 50th anniversary celebrations of Holland’s liberation from the Nazis next spring.

Several amateur companies were already rehearsing the play. But the Foundation for Special International Productions has acquired exclusive performance rights for this play for 1995 and will not allow amateur companies to perform the play as well.

Cleo Dankert, a 22-year-old actress, was chosen recently to portray the teen-age Anne Frank following a long search.

Dankert, a non-Jew who is several years older than Anne was when she wrote her diary, was selected for the part out of more than 200 actresses who applied for the role.
