Three Arab youths from a village in the Jordan Valley were formally charged in connection with the theft of anti-tank missiles from an Israel Defense Force base.

The youths, who confessed to the theft, had planned to sell the weapons to Palestinian police in the West Bank Jericho enclave, Israel Radio reported.

According to Israel Radio, the three have sold weapons to the Palestinian police in the past.

Two weeks ago, they infiltrated an army base in the Jordan Valley and took the missiles. They left them in a ravine, where they planned to retrieve them. The three were apprehended before any sale took place.

The radio said one of the youths planned to join the Palestinian police force.

The missiles were returned to the army.
