Convicted Nazi collaborator Maurice Papon returned to prison after undergoing surgery days earlier to implant a heart pacemaker. Papon, 89, who has a history of cardiac problems, is serving a 10-year sentence for his role in the arrest and deportation of Jews from France during World War II. Papon’s lawyer argued against his return to prison during his convalescence, saying it would endanger his life.
