Edward Levi, the U.S. attorney general after the Watergate scandal, died at 88 after a seven-year bout with Alzheimer’s disease. Before holding that post, Levi was president of the University of Chicago from 1968 to 1975 — the first Jew to head a major U.S. university, according to school officials.
